Have questions about who we are, what we do, or how to get involved?
You’re not alone. At United Parks As One, we believe strong communities are built on transparency and trust. This page answers common questions about our mission, park equity, Friends Groups, and how you can support Newark’s green spaces. Whether you’re new to UPAO or already involved, this is the place to start.
UPAO is a community-driven nonprofit that supports Newark’s parks, playgrounds, and gardens by empowering local residents, promoting green equity, and activating public spaces through volunteerism, education, and events.
From our Park Rangers Summer Program to seasonal events like National Night Out, UPAO creates fun, educational, and inclusive experiences for youth and families across Newark.
Our Small Grants Program offers up to $3,500 to grassroots groups working on park improvements, gardens, and local events. [Click here to learn more and apply.]
Whether you’re a journalist, organization, or corporate sponsor—we’d love to connect. Reach out through our [Contact page] and let’s build something together.
Park equity means ensuring every neighborhood—regardless of income or zip code—has equal access to safe, well-maintained, and vibrant public spaces. It’s about health, joy, and justice.
We’re always looking for extra hands and open hearts. You can sign up for upcoming clean-ups, become part of a Friends Group, or support events through our Volunteer Hub.
